About This Project

Maurizio Esposito

In July 2017, the National park of Vesuvius was destroyed by numerous fires. More than 2700 hectares of pine forests were lost, 50 millions bees died. I grew up with my family in those pine forests for twenty ?ive years, the Vesuvius was a presence for me. When I left my family home it became landscape. When Vesuvius began to burn it stopped being landscape and it awakened as an interior presence within me. The day after I decided to go to help firemen to stop the fires. When fires were extinguished I began to take pictures, it was my way to take care of Vesuvius and me. Vesuvio, 11 luglio 2017 is an ongoing project.
