Very interesting reflection on one of the constituent elements of photography, the chemical process. From this particular manipulation of prints result images of great aesthetic and expressive impact.
Like the casts of ‘The Lovers’ of Pompeii, these relics create clues to reconstruct a story that has already happened.
Documents and images are clear evidence of moments that have passed, of a love affair and the history of a marriage: so many clues to a reality told by Pratya Jankong as if it were a detective case, something that has already been filed or is in the process of being filed (and who knows if it will be solved).
The combination and interaction of different elements that make up ‘Bed Check’ create a kind of legacy of a life that will remain only for posterity: we have clues to reconstruct the story, ‘evidence’ as the author calls it. But despite this, will we manage to solve the case?
Beautiful, profound, quiet, elegant.
A delicate and highly evocative work with a dusty, suspended visual grammar that traces some very interesting contemporary linguistic traits, including Dirk Braeckman and the Am Project.
