Carmen // A war bride story

Through this project I wanted to tell the story of a “War Bride”, a term that refers to the phenomenon of women who married soldiers and soldiers belonging to foreign armies. Women with a strong temperament, which I wanted to underline and emphasize through the choice of the name, Carmen. George Bizet’s Carmen, a fatal woman with a tough, strong and decisive character, who falls madly in love with a young sergeant on duty in Seville.

The meeting of two realities and two apparently distant concepts, such as war and love, which I wanted to put together in this shot of mine by putting together naturalistic elements of Art Nouveau such as flowers , representing the love of this bride for her beloved, and that post Apocalyptic touch given by the gas mask, which completely covers the bride’s face.
