«I took this photograph a week or two after the first Covid lockdown in 2020.
This was the first time I had seen my friend Charlie and his fiancee Kelly since lockdown. I showed up in their backyard and they went inside and put on their finest for a photoshoot in the yard. Our lives came to a halt and the only way we could experience even a glimmer of what we had before, was by being outdoors together from a distance. From this idea, I began the series I now call “Domestic Wild”. I noticed that some things do not change, that even stuck at home we would put on fancy clothes, velvet, eyeliner, and sequins. My friends seemed to be like wild animals or a nat geo documentary about wild creatures now confined to the normalcy of quarantine and domestic life.»
